RequirementsRequirements for Boarding and Daycare1. Complete an interview/screening process in person or by phone The interview lasts about 20 minutes and is necessary because it gives us the opportunity to get to know your dog and learn their behaviors & preferences as well as weed out any dogs with aggressive tendencies. We also gather your contact information in case we need to reach you while your dog is in our care. 2. Provide proof of current rabies, distemper and *bordetella * Bordetella, which is commonly referred to as "kennel cough" is a contagious, air borne disease. Like the common cold, it is a bacterial infection that can be passed by droplets in the air from one dog to another. Most boarding, training & daycare facilities require it because of this easy transmission. Because it is not a life threatening disease, it is generally an optional vaccine and may not be given with the standard series of shots your dog or puppy gets from your veterinarian. If your dog has not received a Bordetella vaccination, one must be administered at least 48 hours prior to bringing them to Peanut's Place. As with any vaccine, there is no guarantee that your dog is 100% protected, but even if he or she is exposed and gets sick, it is usually to a lesser degree. 3. Be spayed or neutered if over six months of age 4, Be on a topical flea and tick preventative from May 1st - October 31st (Frontline or Advantage). Flea collars are not allowed.
